As soon as the snow disappeared the local Woodbridge VA Real Estate market has been going crazy. Buyers have been out shopping and competing for homes like crazy. With interest rates still being very low home buyers are out and about looking and making offers. Normally the spring real estate market starts in spring, but this year the Woodbridge VA spring real estate market has started very early. There is a limited inventory of homes currently for sale in Woodbridge VA. Homes that come on the market and are priced right and in good condition will not stay on the market very long. The Woodbridge VA Real Estate market is heating up. Over the past couple of days I was able to ratify several contracts. Several of my listings are no longer available as they are now under contract with some happy Woodbridge VA area Home buyers.

I just read this months ActiveRain Contest "Swim When you are Ready" So many topics come to mind several of them deeply personal to me and I have to admit I am not yet ready to swim. However there are plenty of other topics I am ready to jump in and to share with everyone. 

For example the topic on why and how I jumped in to becoming a Woodbridge VA Real Estate Agent. It all started by me meeting this great guy that used to work in the Real Estate industry for quite some time. He kept telling me about how great Real Estate is and that I should consider investing in Real Estate, by the time we were engaged he also encouraged me to get my Real Estate License. 

Let me explain, I grew up in Switzerland, where my parents built their home right after I was born. I know all about home ownership, but I didn't know how long I would be staying in the US. Originally I came over on a work visa and was planing on staying for a few years, so no need to purchasing a home, especially since I lived in Washington DC, and I was happy renting. To tell you the truth I was kind of scared making a commitment to a home. I saw my parents built their home and in Switzerland once you own a home you own it almost for life. It isn't quite like here where people move every few years, to upgrade or downgrade or simply to move for professional reasons. It took a push from my then fiance, to push me into the water and force me to swim.

When we met he moved into my rental apartment in Washington DC but he got tired of renting very very quickly and decided it was time for us to purchase something. So he found a great townhouse in Woodbridge VA. But me not yet being ready to swim told him he is on his own as I wasn't ready to leave the City behind and moving to the suburbs. After he bought the home, I spend 99 % of my time there and was hardly back in my cool DC rental apartment. I got a push and started swimming right then and there. I moved in with him into his Woodbridge VA Townhouse and soon after that I realized it was time for us to purchase something together.

I got anther push or better encouragement to getting my real estate license and a few weeks later with my real estate license in hand I became a Woodbridge VA Real Estate Agent. I was ready to swim and boy did I swim. I started working as a part time Real Estate Agent at first but soon made my passion my full time career. I never looked back and now I am a successful Woodbridge VA Real Estate Agent, helping Woodbridge Area Home buyers and sellers. If you are thinking about buying or selling I can help. The saying goes you wouldn't send a dog out in this weather. Well I only have a cat and he normally loves going outside in the fenced back yard however during this cold weather he went outside for a few seconds just to turning around and coming back inside into the warm house. Kind of like with home buyers, many don't want to leave their house during these cold temperatures. 

 Of course there are still many serious Woodbridge VA home buyers that are out looking at homes, as a matter of fact I got quite a lot of calls on some of my Woodbridge VA homes for sale. But overall I see less buyers venturing out in the cold, then normally during a warmer January. I am still expecting a strong January just not as strong as if the weather was better.

The Government Shutdown impacts Real People, in the Real Estate Market it impacts buyers and sellers alike. Both yesterday and today I heard from clients that work for the federal government and are not receiving any paycheck, they don't know when their next paycheck will come. They might even have to report to work because they are considered essential personnel, but they don't know when or if they will receive a pay check. They are worried and are considering to put their real estate plans on hold because of this uncertainty. 

For my clients sake and everyone else I truly hope the government can get this issue resolved and figured. No one should be in the situation of not knowing if and when they get payed. Not knowing how you pay your next mortgage payment, rent or car payment. Having to put all your plans on hold because some people in congress have to throw a tantrum. It's not fair to anyone.

I am pretty sure this will get resolved but it will have a real impact on people, our economy and the local Real Estate Market. The sooner congress agrees to a solution the lesser the impact will be.

Our local Woodbridge VA Real Estate market is heavily dependent on the Federal Government. Think about it how many of your neighbors work for the Federal Government? I can think about several of my clients that are working for the Federal Government and that have put their Real Estate plans on hold until this shut down is resolved. Some even think further and will be waiting until the debt ceiling debate has been resolved.

Overall the Woodbridge VA Real Estate Market is still strong but this shut down has and will have an impact. Let's hope this will be resolved shortly.
